Jame’s Daniels v. Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority

Date: September 22, 2022
Party represented: Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority
Venue: Superior Court of Fulton County
State: Georgia
Length of trial: 4 days
Type of case:

Catastrophic Injury

Verdict/award:

$5 million verdict for Plaintiff. This was 1/3 of the Plaintiff’s claimed damages at trial.

WWHGD’s trial team of Brannon Arnold, Jad Dial, and Marriah Paige obtained a favorable jury verdict in an admitted liability catastrophic injury case in Fulton County. The case arose out of an incident that occurred on March 2, 2020, when the Plaintiff’s car was hit head on by a MARTA bus. Plaintiff sustained significant injuries, which led to undisputed medical bills of just under $1 million and almost $1 million in alleged economic losses.

The sole question for the jury was the amount of damages to award the Plaintiff. After two days of damages testimony and cross examination, Plaintiff’s counsel asked the jury to award over $15 million in damages. The jury deliberated for just over an hour before awarding the Plaintiff only $5 million in damages. This was a very favorable result for the firm’s client.
