Law Students
Summer Associate Experience
Our Summer Associate Program is a 10-week program designed to provide litigation training and experiential learning. Through our WWHGD Trial Academy, our associates learn skills across a wide range of topics such as taking and defending depositions, preparing discovery responses, handling a case from inception to trial, and business development skills. Each Summer Associate is assigned a mentor to help guide them through their summer experience. Our goal is to find talented law students who want to become elite trial lawyers.
Our program is uniquely designed for law students who want to experience what it's like to represent clients in some of the biggest, highest-stake litigation matters they have ever faced. Our goal is to immerse you in an authentic experience, allowing you to learn what it's like to work at WWHGD, working closely with attorneys and representing clients on real cases.
We take great pride in matching with outstanding summer associates, who we hope will relish their summer experience and eventually join us as practicing attorneys. From day one, our summer associates are given ownership over their work and are actively involved in every phase of a case. We look for candidates who are eager to learn, adapt quickly, and confidently tackle the responsibilities that come with handling high-stakes matters. We value creativity, a competitive drive, and a commitment to achieving the best results for our clients.
During the 10-week program, you will play a key role in current litigation matters, working closely with our attorneys on real cases, gaining hands-on experience in high-stakes litigation matters. Whether you’re drafting pleadings, preparing discovery, assisting in deposition strategy, or supporting trial teams, you will play a key role in every stage of litigation. In addition, you will have opportunities to observe our attorneys in action at depositions, hearings, mediations, trials, and arbitrations. This allows you to see firsthand the dedication, collaboration, and skill that define our approach to cases and to client service.
At WWHGD's Summer Experience, you will work hard, and we also want you to have fun! We foster a collegial and friendly atmosphere and encourage our summer associates to build relationships with attorneys across the firm through a variety of social events. We make it easy to feel a part of the WWHGD team both professionally and personally. In addition to a variety of events throughout the summer, we host an annual summer party for all summer associates, which provides a great opportunity to network and socialize with associates across the firm. Additionally, Atlanta-based summer associates have the chance to visit one of our other offices during the 10-week program, offering a broader perspective on our firm’s operations and culture.
Throughout the summer, our associates receive ongoing feedback and guidance from their assigning attorneys. Additionally, each summer associate is paired with a dedicated mentor who provides support on everything from firm policies to performance feedback and general advice. This mentorship ensures that you have the resources and insight needed to succeed both during your summer experience and in your future legal career.
