
Overview
Lisa Whitfield is a Partner in the firm's Atlanta office whose practice focuses on complex civil litigation involving catastrophic injury, product liability, premises liability, construction, transportation, insurance coverage, professional liability, and environmental and toxic tort matters. With more than 25 years of experience in private practice and in-house legal roles, she represents clients in high-exposure disputes and provides strategic counsel throughout the litigation process.
Lisa has extensive experience developing litigation strategy, managing complex discovery, preparing and arguing dispositive motions, handling appeals, and defending clients in high-stakes matters involving significant financial and legal exposure. Her practice is informed by years of representing insureds, insurance carriers, and national businesses in product liability, commercial liability, and coverage disputes, as well as advising on emerging liability risks and complex claims involving evolving legal and regulatory issues.
Drawing on her extensive civil litigation experience, Lisa served as a principal author and editor of the Georgia litigation resources for Practical Law, Westlaw's authoritative guide to law practice and procedure.
Lisa earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Georgia School of Law, where she served on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Intellectual Property Law, was a finalist for Best Brief, served as Vice President of the Class of 1996, and was selected as the commencement speaker for her graduating class. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies from Florida State University.
Outside of her practice, Lisa volunteers with Patient Paws, where she has trained service dogs for placement with hospitals and individuals with mobility-related disabilities, and with Samaritan's Purse.
