Summary Judgment Affirmed After Untimely Appeal Dismissed
In 2024, WWHGD secured summary judgment in Serrano et al. v. United Parcel Service, Inc., et al., a wrongful death lawsuit filed in the Circuit Court of the 13th Judicial Circuit for Hillsborough County, Florida. The plaintiffs appealed the trial court’s summary judgment order and WWHGD handled the appeal. Attorneys Grant Smith and Cecilia Orozco Davis argued that the appeal was untimely based on the timing of the entry of summary judgment. On August 27, 2026, the Florida Second District Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal, leaving the trial court’s final judgment in favor of the defendants in place.
