WWHGD Obtains Judgment in Excess of $25 Million in Construction Defect Case
As reported in the Houston Chronicle, Weinberg Wheeler Hudgins Gunn & Dial partners Michael Hornreich and Matthew Kramer obtained a judgment in excess of $25 million against Chapter 11 debtor Urban Oaks Builders LLC relating to Urban Oaks’ negligent construction of a 306-unit multifamily property located in Celebration, Florida. The property was developed by Urban Oaks’ affiliate, Hines Interests Limited Partnership. WWHGD’s clients, Southstar Capital Group and affiliates, have since sold the property and will continue to pursue litigation against the non-debtor Hines entities for additional damages incurred by the Southstar entities. Partner Michael Hornreich states, “My clients are determined and capable of seeing this through and will not be dissuaded by all the obstacles that have been thrown in their path.”
