Defense Verdict: $1.6M Jury Ask Reduced by Over $1.1M

WWHGD attorney's Chaz Klaes, Anna Dodds, and Alli Bryant secured a defense-driven verdict in Dallas County on behalf of a client facing a high-exposure personal injury claim. The plaintiff alleged being twice side-swiped by a cement truck and claimed more than $300,000 in past medical expenses, including a lumbar fusion surgery. Despite a $1.5 million pre-trial demand and a $1.6 million jury request, the jury reduced plaintiff’s request by more than $1.1 million, a 70% decrease.

Importantly, the jury awarded no damages for future mental anguish, future impairment, or future disfigurement, and even awarded less than the claimed past medical expenses. The result was achieved despite stipulated liability and without presenting a driver or defense witnesses at trial.
