The Facts: Defendant owed over $500,000 in taxes to the IRS for the years 2007, 2008, and 2009. She contracted with the Tax Law Center to represent her before the IRS in an effort to reduce her debt. She later proposed a Bonus Agreement to the Tax Law Center offering to pay the Tax Law Center a significant bonus if it was able to reduce her tax debt to less than $30,000 within three months. The Tax Law Center satisfied the terms of the Bonus Agreement entitling it to payment, and Defendant refused to pay the bonus.
Case Results: The jury awarded 100% of the claimed bonus after deliberating for 20 minutes.
