Our attorneys have handled a wide-variety of real estate and real estate-related litigation throughout the country including the negotiation and litigation of commercial and residential leases; the resolution of nuisance and trespass claims; negotiating and litigating real estate sales contract claims; and the filing or dismissals of lis pendens, tax liens, materialmen’s liens, and other encumbrances upon real property and suits to quiet title to real property.
Some recent cases of this practice group include:
- Georgia: Obtained a directed verdict in favor our real estate developer client in a landlord tenant dispute where the former tenant sought compensatory damages in excess of $400,000 and punitive damages because of an alleged trespass and conversion of personal property.
- Georgia: Prevailed on a suit to cancel a lis pendens improperly filed by a disbursing agent for a corporate debtor in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding.
- Georgia: Persuaded the Court to grant summary judgment to our real estate developer client on a material supplier’s claims to collect on a bond issued to dissolve a materialmen’s lien.
- Negotiated a favorable resolution on behalf of our purchaser clients against charges that they willfully breached a residential real estate contract.
- Georgia: Negotiated extremely favorable settlement on behalf of a relocation company against claims that it had knowingly failed to disclose defects in a residential property.
