Product Liability Litigation
Our Product Liability Litigation Practice Group serves a broad roster of automotive, pharmaceutical and consumer product companies, as well as farm machinery and other manufacturing clients as national, regional or Georgia counsel. With nearly half of WWHGD partners and associates engaged in representation of clients involved in product liability matters, it is one of our most experienced and successful practice groups.
The WWHGD Product Liability Practice Group handled the cases establishing the law of strict liability in Georgia. In the past 20 years, we have served as counsel in well-known cases involving claims involving automobile fuel tank design and SUV rollover to weight-loss drugs and toxic shock syndrome. We have also handled several highly significant cases involving industrial machine design and consumer and household products. WWHGD has three partners who are members of the prestigious Product Liability Advisory Council.
Some recent cases of this practice group include:
- Representation of numerous Japanese product manufacturers and distributors in connection with product liability claims involving such diverse products as all-terrain vehicles, end-tidal CO2 monitor, industrial manufacturing equipment, golf carts, etc.
- Representation of a product manufacturer in Columbus, Ohio, in a case involving a defective coupler for a crane that resulted in death. A three-and-a-half week trial resulted in a defense verdict.
- Representation of multiple medical device manufacturers in claims ranging from single failures to pattern litigation following Class I recalls.
- Representation of claims arising out of the design and manufacturing of motor vehicles, including passenger vehicles, trucks, buses, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, golf carts, material handling equipment and all their constituent and component parts.
- Served as counsel for national tire manufacturer.
- The firm is currently serving as national counsel for an electrical product manufacturer.
