Our Healthcare Law Practice Group has particular and significant experience in the representation of healthcare clients with medical staffing and credentialing issues.
We are experienced in assisting our healthcare clients with issues involving the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), The False Claims Act, anti-kickback and self referral laws, and we also assist our healthcare clients with other issues pertaining to claims of healthcare fraud and abuse.
A significant amount of our work is in the context of involuntary treatment and commitment proceedings, working closely with healthcare professionals.
The goal of this practice group is to provide prompt, experienced advice and guidance to our healthcare clients on a variety of legal matters.
Some recent cases of this practice group include:
- Representation of numerous hospitals and other healthcare providers in connection with peer review and credentialing matters in compliance with state and federal law including the Healthcare Quality Improvement Act of 1969 (as amended).
- Representation of physicians and other healthcare providers before the state licensing boards in connection with complaint investigations and investigations following settlement of malpractice claims and/or significant adverse verdicts.
- Advice and counsel to facilities and physician practices in regard to response to third party requests for production of patient records and information, response to subpoenas and issues involving HIPAA and other state and federal privacy laws pertaining to healthcare records and information.
