Civil litigation practice focuses on complex tort and business litigation, including construction law. Litigated and arbitrated dozens of state and federal cases in Georgia, Alabama, Texas, West Virginia and Illinois.
Representative Cases/Experience
- Successfully defended mining companies in lawsuit alleging tens of millions in damages to thousands of claimants.
- Successfully defended and favorably settled cases for lawyers, accountants and business entities accused of malpractice and other tortious conduct.
- Defense verdict for industrial equipment dealership company in a case involving alleged conversion of customer’s industrial machines.
- Clients’ proposed remedy adopted by the American Arbitration Association panel in “baseball arbitration” case involving a gas marketing contract dispute of tens of millions of dollars.
- Litigated one of the first e-mail “spamming” cases involving one of the largest Internet providers.
- Prosecuted and defended numerous business disputes involving contractual and/or business tort allegations, such as misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of employee duty of loyalty, bad faith, fraud, construction and other contractual disputes in litigation and/or arbitration proceedings.
- Litigated and favorably resolved bad faith/breach of contract case for large casualty insurer where plaintiffs alleged more than $50 million in actual damages.
